Jonathan OBrien is an American Software Engineer, born and raised in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area of Southwestern Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the California University of Pennsylvania. Along with software engineering, personal interests include technology, mobile phones, business, cars, music, craft beer and snowboarding. Jonathan took advantage of his knack for technology and business at a young age. In 2006, he began offering freelance services on the Guru.com network. Shortly after, the network recognized him as a top performer within his region. In 2010, he left the network and registered the fictious business name of Nanofied Productions with the state of Pennsylvania. Servicing numerous clients while earning his college degree, Jonathan learned to thrive during rough economic times. In 2011, he accepted an internship with PNC Financial Services in downtown Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. This internship led to his current full time offer with the company in 2012.
Jonathan OBrien earned his Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from the California University of Pennsylvania. While attending the California University of Pennsylvania, Jonathan was President of the Computer Club and Vice President of the Snow Club. He was recognized by the University President for the contributions on numerous sucessful software and mobile engineering projects. Notable among these were the content management system migration on Calu.edu, WCAL Radio mobile application, and numerous university club/organization websites. He also volunteered teaching students Appcelerator Titanium mobile development using the JavasScript programming language. Jonathan plans to work and gain sufficient industry experience before considering a masters degree.
Employed as a Software Engineer in the Strategic Information and Risk Technology group at PNC Financial Services, Jonathan currently works on an OFSAA data warehousing project. This data warehouse aids PNC Financial Services in indentifying various risk factors related to their expansive investment portfolios. He specifically is assigned to a portion of the data warehouse focused on calculating credit concentration amounts. Daily tasks include analyzing, creating and optimizing Oracle SQL scripts and batch processes that make it possible to generate OBIEE financial reports for the bank. During his internship in 2011, Jonathan programmed a C# Silverlight application named Application Inventory, which tracked various lifecycle information for the bank. PNC Financial Services exposed him to software engineering methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, ALM and Harvest.
